December 9 – Party. What social gathering rocked your socks off in 2010? Describe the people, music, food, drink, clothes, shenanigans.
The BEST social gathering I attended this year was, hands down, PRSSA National Conference in D.C. because it was just incredible!
I loved being surrounded by other PR people who understand my passion for PR and social media. Sometimes it’s hard to get people into social media because they don’t “get it” yet, but it was nice for everyone around me to be tweeting and checking-in via foursquare too.
There was SO much energy at the conference, we all fed off each other! My friend Ben, that I met at conference, suggested we just make a PRSSA school in D.C. and just all stay there! We were all dressed really nicely all the time and we all looked very professional!
When we were in D.C. I discovered a new restaurant, Chipotle Mexican Grill and I ate there three times out of the 5 days we were there, which I know is crazy, but they had GREAT food!! I can’t wait until I find another one! Their lemon rice was the BEST and they had some big serving sizes! We also had this yummy Mediterranean food! I really liked being on a street where there was Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Mediterranean, Afghan, Italian and other types of food on ONE street. It was awesome!
There were definitely some shenanigans at National Conference…. but I will not embarrass anyone, including myself! We did miss a few sessions to go sightseeing in D.C. but that wasn’t too bad, we had a really great time! Visiting the White House three days in a row, one time at about 2 a.m., was also pretty fun!
One of my other favorite things was the tweetups we went too. We had one the first night for everyone on Twitter that had been talking to each other for months, so it was great to FINALLY meet everyone from Twitter! We also went to a professional Tweetup sponsored by Sarah Evans at Sevans Strategy and Pitch Engine.
It was GREAT to meet some of my PR heros whom I really look up to like Sarah Evans and Deirdre Breakenridge! It was really great to finally connect with them and other people like David Spinks from #u30pro and Harrison Kratz with Kratz PR.
Overall, it was an AMAZING experience and I made some contacts and friends I will never forget!
