Following Redefining Success: Part 1 saying you are not a failure if you do not end up at one of the largest agencies, a well-known corporation or a fortune 500 company, here is part 2:
You can’t be afraid of going after what you really want. You are defining your own success, career and life at this point and you should do what you want. It’s cliché, but do what you love. You don’t want to be stuck at a job you hate.
It’s fine to have the “stay at a job for one year rule” but why should you have to do that? Why should you be limited by “rules” set by others?
We have a short time to define ourselves. More than 1/3 of our day is spent at a job, in an office, working away. Don’t waste that time doing something you’re not proud of or doing something you don’t want to do.
It’s a fine line between gaining experience and figuring out what you want to do. It’s a hard process, trust me I know, but I’m happy to be out on this journey and hope it inspires one of you to take a leap to figure out what you love and what kind of job you want too!
The other side: if you are okay with your love and love your job GREAT! Go above and beyond your job though and find things you love outside your job. Take up painting, photography, volunteering, running or something else. Take some time AWAY from your job too. Don’t forget to actually live.
