About Lauren


I’m Lauren Gray and I’m a senior at Western Carolina University in North Carolina, majoring in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and minoring in Marketing and Leadership. I’m very involved on campus through various organizations and also involved on a national level with PRSSA!

Here’s what I’m currently doing:

  • PRSSA National Vice President of Public Relations for the 2011-2012 year
  • Director of PR and Marketing for the WCU Student Government Association
  • News Writer and the Social Media Coordinator for the WCU campus newspaper, The Western Carolinian.
  • WCU PR eMarketing Intern
  • Bad Rhino Inc. Marketing Intern

I was also the PRSSA President of the WCU PRSSA Chapter from Dec. 2009- May 2011, and have been involved with PRSSA since August 2009, a member of the WCU student-run PR firm from 2009-2011 and a member of The Leadership Institute from 2008-2011.

You’ll mostly find me in one of my three offices working, but I do have free time! I absolutely love reading, traveling, cooking, hanging out with friends and playing with my dogs. The best things in life are the simple things.

My goals: Public relations and marketing are my prominent interests and, in my future career, I would like to work for a PR firm or agency and help companies/clients manage their PR, branding development, social media and integrated marketing. I’m also interested in tech and digital work as well.

    I’m a PR student at my college and I’m treasurer for our division of PRSSA. I’m sure you get these e-mail all the time, but I’m new to Twitter and I want to start a blog too. I’m diving head first into the whole social media realm and it’s a little overwhelming!
    What are some sites and/or books you suggest I read to improve my Twitter and blog knowledge. I’m really interested in the whole social media aspect of PR and I’d appreciate your advice.

    • I think there really is so much you can learn from experience. Reading books doesn’t really help me, so I wouldn’t know. Joining in on the conversation on Twitter has helped me TREMENDOUSLY though!! Join the chats #PRstudchat and #blogchat for some great help and advice!!

    LOL ok well I am a HUGE fan and I bet money I am your biggest fan as your mentor. But I have been looking through your blog and I was wondering can you Mentor me on something?
